We are excited to announce that the Rainforest Alliance has joined the CABI BioProtection Portal as a sponsor.

The Rainforest Alliance works at the intersection of business, agriculture, and forests. We bring diverse allies, including farmers, forest communities, companies and consumers, together to address some of the most pressing social and environmental challenges of today.

In sponsoring the CABI BioProtection Portal, the Rainforest Alliance brings a globally recognized brand to this bioprotection resource. They also contribute a wealth of field knowledge about protecting and restoring nature.

The new Rainforest Alliance sponsorship helps expand the expertize of the rapidly growing CABI BioProtection Portal. Both organisations are working together to create a more sustainable world by using social and market forces to protect nature.

The CABI BioProtection Portal – supporting non-chemical pest control

The CABI BioProtection Portal is a groundbreaking hub, the go-to resource for farmers seeking safe biocontrol and biopesticide products. The portal aids agriculture by sourcing and correctly applying non-chemical control products for crop pests and diseases.

The CABI BioProtection Portal focuses on supporting those who want to replace chemical pesticides with biological alternatives. The use of biological, natural products and biopesticides in agriculture is highly beneficial. It responds to the demands of modern consumers looking for healthier and safer food. Non-chemical products also help growers who need to meet market or export standards and reduce pressure on the environment.

Available in local languages and free to use, the portal is accessible on multiple devices, putting valuable information at the fingertips of the people who need it. It helps users access up-to-date information on nationally registered and available bioprotection products.

Dr. Juliana Jaramillo, Lead Regenerative Agriculture at the Rainforest Alliance, expressed delight in supporting CABI and the BioProtection Portal. She aims to bring it to the attention of their large network of producers, providing concrete tools for transitioning to more regenerative agriculture.

Dr Ulrich Kuhlmann, Executive Director, Global Operations at CABI, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Rainforest Alliance to the CABI BioProtection Portal as both parties are interested in identifying available alternatives to reduce the impact of high-risk plant protection products in production. I am convinced that with the support of Rainforest Alliance the Portal will be used even more by growers and advisory service providers.”
