Through a partnership with the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI), the CABI BioProtection Portal now displays an OMRI Listed® seal on products that are approved for organic use in the United States (under the USDA National Organic Program). Organic growers can now quickly identify crop protection solutions that meet organic standards and that are compatible with their farming systems.
The value of the partnership
This partnership brings together two organizations, OMRI and CABI, that share a common vision: to support growers in reducing reliance on synthetic inputs in order to protect human health and the environment, and to build resilient farming systems.
Biocontrol products play an essential role in the success of organic farming. However, finding the right products can be tedious and growers and advisors can struggle navigating which ones are suitable for organic farming. This is where the partnership adds real value.
OMRI is globally recognized for its rigorous and independent review of agro-inputs for use in certified organic production and processing, while the CABI BioProtection Portal offers a comprehensive, searchable directory of registered bioprotection products. By joining forces, the Portal and OMRI are helping growers to confidently identify organic-approved crop protection products.
