The CABI BioProtection Portal is thrilled to welcome KAELTIA Consulting as our newest sponsor. KAELTIA, based in the Asturias region of Spain, is a scientific regulatory affairs consultant. It guides manufacturers worldwide through the process of registering their agricultural products. With over 16 years of experience and seasoned experts integrating knowledge in chemistry, biology, (eco)toxicology, microbiology, and agroecology sciences, the Development Consortium welcomes a trusted and knowledgeable perspective to the portal. “Collaborating with regulatory experts supporting a move towards natural pest management helps drive the spirit of our mission. It provides the expertise needed to make productive change”, said Ulli Kuhlmann, CABI’s Executive Director who oversees development of the portal.

KAELTIA provides advice on eco-design and sustainable packaging of products in the Agri-Food and Chemical industry. They undertake this to achieve the European objectives of Zero Waste and Sustainable Development Strategies.
Their commitment to promoting a circular economy is something we are eager to support at the CABI BioProtection Portal. “At KAELTIA, we are committed to the environment, to the viability of our businesses, and to a safe and sustainable food system for all. This is why we have decided to join the CABI BioProtection Portal, who share and promote these same core values”. said Elisa Capellán Montoto, CEO of KAELTIA.

How the Portal is a valuable information hub on bioprotection

The CABI BioProtection Portal is an open-access, online tool aimed to help growers and advisors easily source biopesticides and biocontrol agents for pest management. Already active in 38 countries, the portal includes over 4000 bioprotection products that cover more than 940 crops and 2200 pests.

Limited awareness and access hinder the growth of natural pest solutions, despite their increasing popularity. Many countries lack an accessible, user-friendly database of registered bioprotection products. This hinders on-the-go use by growers and advisors. The portal aims to fill this gap in the market by sourcing product information directly from national authorities. It presents the information in a search engine format for users.

The portal is able to remain open-access thanks to the funding provided by our partners, sponsors, and donors. This funding enables us to keep the portal search engine up-to-date with the latest products and registration changes. It ensures the portal serves as a reliable source of information. Additionally, it helps our team publish relevant industry news stories and maintain our site’s Resources section.

Our Resources section is an information hub on bioprotection, offering introductory material and practical details for sustainably managing common pests. By providing greater accessibility to growers and advisors, we aim to accelerate awareness and uptake of bioprotection solutions. This, in turn, drives innovation within the biopesticide and biological control space. KAELTIA’s sponsorship contributes to the expansion and maintenance of the portal. It supports a central pillar of our mission: to encourage the gradual reduction in our reliance on chemical products within agriculture.
