CABI’s BioProtection Portal an has exciting new partnership with Idai Nature, an award-winning biopesticide company based in Spain with expertize in microorganisms and innovative botanical extracts.

Visitors to the CABI BioProtection Portal can now benefit from the expertize and specialization that Idai Nature brings, including the development and production of products based on microorganisms and innovative botanical extracts with biofungicide biobactericide and/or bioinsecticide effects.

Available on four continents, the CABI BioProtection Portal is a ground-breaking information resource that helps growers and agricultural advisors to identify, source and correctly apply biocontrol and biopesticide products against problematic pests in their crops.

The partnership with Idai Nature allows CABI to increase growers and advisors’ awareness and uptake of biocontrol and biopesticide products, as well as expand the geographical spread and global reach of the innovative online tool.

The CABI BioProtection Portal aims to be the go-to information resource for those looking to identify and source biocontrol and biopesticide products – helping growers wanting to replace chemical pesticides with biological products and natural pest control.

Biopesticides are extremely beneficial – they cater to the demands of modern consumers looking for healthier and safer food, as well as growers who need to meet market or export standards and reduce pressure on the environment.

Free to use and accessible on multiple devices, the CABI BioProtection Portal puts valuable information at the fingertips of the people who need it, and the new partnership with Idai Nature helps expand this available knowledge.

Talking about the partnership, Executive Director, Global Operations at CABI, Dr Ulrich Kuhlmann, said, “Globally, an estimated 40 percent of crops are lost to pests and diseases. The widespread use of chemical pesticides to fight crop pests is not sustainable either economically or environmentally in the long run especially when you factor impacts exacerbated by climate change.

“CABI is delighted to welcome Idai Nature as partner as part of our joint collaboration to promote the benefits of more sustainable pest management, which not only benefit growers in the short term but also the environment in the medium to long-term future.”

CEO of Idai Nature, Carlos Ledó, said, “We are proud to be an active member of CABI to promote the benefits and opportunities of sustainable and biological farming that let us leave a better world to future generations.”
