We are delighted to announce that, on 2 March 2021, BASAI joined the CABI BioProtection Portal as an Associate member. BASAI – the Biological Agri Solutions Association of India – represents more than 20 companies in India and internationally, bringing a wealth of expertize in non-chemical pest control.

BASAI represents companies that focus on the biological control of pests. Visitors of the CABI BioProtection Portal will benefit from the association’s breadth and depth of expertize in biofertilizers, biopesticides in agriculture (biofungicides, bioherbicides, bioinsecticides), biostimulants, plant Growth Regulators (PGRs) and other botanical/microbial-based agri-inputs associated with crop protection.

A portal to support the biological control of pests

Available on four continents, the CABI BioProtection Portal is a ground-breaking information resource. It helps growers and agricultural advisors to identify, source and correctly apply non-chemical pest control products against problematic pests in their crops.

The new Associate membership increases the geographical reach of the CABI BioProtection Portal to India. BASAI and CABI will collaborate in areas of mutual interest around the development and promotion of biocontrol and biopesticides in agriculture, with BASAI’s member companies representing many of the biologically-based crop protection products listed on the Portal.

Created with the goal of becoming the go-to information resource for those looking to identify and source products for the biological control of pests, the CABI BioProtection Portal helps growers wanting to replace chemical pesticides with biological products and use natural pest control.

Extremely beneficial, biopesticides cater to the demands of modern consumers looking for healthier and safer food, as well as growers who need to meet market or export standards and reduce pressure on the environment.

The CABI BioProtection Portal is free to use and accessible on multiple devices, thereby putting valuable information at the fingertips of the people who need it. The joining of BASAI as an Associate helps expand this available knowledge.

BASAI’s CEO, Vipin Saini, said, “BASAI is glad to be part of CABI’s endeavour towards creating a BioProtection Portal, as we look into establishing a ‘single point’ information centre in a country-wise manner. This will also help Indian companies to explore the possibility of exporting their products to other countries and, in turn, also look into importing novel products that may suit agri conditions.
