The CABI BioProtection Portal has welcomed the Association of Natural Biocontrol Producers (ANBP) as our latest associate, supporting our mission to help growers and advisors identify, source, and apply sustainable solutions to combat agricultural pests.
ANBP is the 15th Associate of the CABI BioProtection Portal, and the collaboration reflects the joint commitment to sharing knowledge and promoting sustainable agricultural practices worldwide.
The CABI BioProtection Portal collaborates with companies, organizations, and governments that share our mission – to empower growers and advisors with the knowledge and information needed to make sustainable pest management decisions.
Share ideas and set milestones
One of the benefits that ANBP now enjoys as an Associate is an invitation to participate in our biannual Development Consortium meetings to share ideas and give direction about the future of the CABI BioProtection Portal.
ANBP represents North American and international producers and distributors of natural enemies for biological control, private research consultants, and government and regional scientists at research institutions and universities.
Its organizational goals include the promotion of research and technology transfer to industry, new and improved ways to rear high quality beneficial arthropods, and methods to effectively deliver them to users.
Lynn LeBeck, from ANBP, said, “ANBP recognizes the value of public research for the advancement of industry. Most, if not all, commercial products came about as a cooperative effort between researchers and industry partners, driven by commodity groups.
“ANBP supports projects which benefit the entire augmentative biological control industry allowing information to be shared with all ANBP members.
“Being an Associate of the CABI BioProtection Portal means we can support the dissemination of the Portal and its resources, ensuring that valuable information on sustainable agriculture reaches a broader audience.”
Combining expertise to create high-quality resources
As part of being an Associate of the CABI BioProtection Portal, ANBP will also be able to work with CABI on the development of new content – combining expertise to create high-quality resources for both ANBP members and users of the Portal.
ANBP recognises that, in line with its mission, several emerging topics will increase in importance in the augmentative biological control industry. These include enhancement of augmentation biological control in all of its applications.
The bioprotection market is growing, but lack of knowledge is hindering widespread adoption. The CABI BioProtection Portal aims to bridge this gap in awareness by providing information and a direct connection to bioprotection manufacturers, putting natural solutions at the fingertips of growers and advisors.
