As we approach the end of the year 2024, we are proud to look back at the progress we’ve made on the CABI BioProtection Portal. This year, we continued to expand access, functionality, and value for users globally. If you missed some of the updates, here’s a summary of what we accomplished this year.
Expanding our reach to six new countries
Now, users can search for registered bioprotection products in six additional countries: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Barbados, the Philippines, and South Africa. This expansion strengthens our commitment to providing valuable solutions to more growers and advisors worldwide.
Please note that we are uploading the South African data in phases, and as a result, the current results may not reflect all registered biocontrol and biopesticide products available in the country.
Bridging language barriers with three new languages
Telugu, Hindi, and Vietnamese have been added to the Portal, increasing the accessibility of information on biological plant protection to even more users.
Users can now search for bioprotection products in India in Telugu and Hindi, in addition to English, while products in Vietnam are available in Vietnamese and English. The rest of the website can be browsed in these languages.
Welcoming 12 new members
In 2024, we were thrilled to welcome new partners, sponsors and associates to the Portal network: T. Stanes, Natural Insect Control, Minor Use Foundation, COLEAD, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, SAN, STDF, IICA, APAARI, ANBP, AARINENA, and OMRI.
We also received endorsement from the UN-FAO, further strengthening our credibility and network and expanding our global reach.
We are excited about the opportunities these new partnerships bring and look forward to continuing working together in 2025 to promote sustainable pest management solutions.
Content to support knowledge of sustainable practices
This year, we enriched the Portal with 38 new articles, both on our News and Resources pages. These included 17 pest guides specifically selected in response to popular user searches. These guides provide readers with an overview of problematic pests and how to control them sustainably. We also spotlighted new free courses available on CABI Academy, such as courses on soil and water management practices and improving crop nutrition practices.
In addition, we offered a Sustainable Pest Control Guide, which compiles information from our most sought-after articles, providing an excellent introduction to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and biological control.
By providing actionable knowledge, we aim to support growers and advisors in adopting sustainable bioprotection methods.
New animated video: What is the CABI BioProtection Portal?
To bring the Portal’s mission to life, we created an engaging animated video, which is accessible on the About page and the CABI YouTube channel. This video helps users quickly understand the Portal’s value and encourages them to explore its features. It is currently available in English, Spanish, Hindi and Malay, with more languages to come.
Improved member experience: Redesign and Members area launch
We launched a redesigned Members page with individual pages for our partners, sponsors, associates, and donors. These updates provide clarity on the benefits and opportunities available to different member categories, making it easier for potential members to find their place within our growing network.
Additionally, we introduced the exclusive Members Area, currently available to our partners. In this log-in space, partners gain access to a personalized analytics dashboard to help them understand their products’ popularity and trends in the bioprotection market, providing opportunities to refine their sales strategies. Partners can also access summaries from our development consortium meetings and download marketing materials to promote the Portal to their networks.
CABI BioProtection Portal App availability updates
This year, we made a significant update to the Portal app by adding US data to the app, making it easier for users to search for biological products in the USA directly through the app. In addition, Apple users can now download the app directly from the App Store, making it more convenient than the previous option.
Continuous improvements for a better experience
Beyond these major updates, the CABI BioProtection Portal team continuously makes smaller changes to improve the Portal. Every adjustment is designed to provide our users with the best experience.
