The CABI BioProtection Portal is delighted to welcome Bio Insumos Nativa as a new partner. Created in 2002, Bio Insumos Nativa is a biotechnology company dedicated to the development, production and commercialization of organic agricultural products in Latin America. It is the first Latin American company to join the portal.

Bio Insumos Nativa develops collections of native microorganisms, which it then studies and develops into products, introducing them into the market. For visitors of the CABI BioProtection Portal who want to know more about the biological control of pests and biopesticides in agriculture, this partnership is good news as it will expand the portal’s information across Chile and Peru.

An online information resource for non-chemical pest control

The CABI BioProtection Portal, available on four continents, is a ground-breaking online information resource for non-chemical pest control. It is dedicated to helping agricultural advisors and growers to identify, source and correctly apply biocontrol and biopesticide products against problematic crop pests.

The portal provides users with up-to-date information on nationally registered and available bioprotection products and aims to promote awareness and uptake of more sustainable approaches to agriculture and horticulture worldwide. This innovative tool is available in local languages and can be accessed on multiple devices, putting valuable information in the hands of those who need it.

Bio Insumos Nativa joins existing partners, sponsors and donors and will now be part of the portal’s Development Consortium, guiding the ongoing development and growth of the CABI BioProtection Portal, including which countries are added to the tool.

Dr Ulrich Kuhlmann, Executive Director, Global Operations at CABI said: “We are extremely happy to welcome Bio Insumos Nativa to the CABI BioProtection Portal. This exciting new partnership means that users of the portal will now have access to detailed information about Bio Insumos Nativa’s products for the biological management of pests in crops such as banana and coffee in both Chile and Peru. We look forward to working together with Bio Insumos Nativa as we continue to grow the CABI BioProtection Portal into a go-to information resource for non-chemical pest control.”
