Why it matters

Since launching five years ago to raise awareness and encourage adoption of sustainable crop protection, the CABI BioProtection Portal has continued to expand to make reliable information more accessible worldwide.

Reaching 50 countries highlights the Portal’s rapid growth and growing global impact. With Trinidad and Tobago joining Jamaica and Barbados, we are strengthening access to bioprotection knowledge across the Caribbean and helping more growers and advisors make informed, sustainable choices.

Focus on Trinidad and Tobago

The latest addition to the Portal’s search tool, Trinidad and Tobago, was made possible with the help of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, which highlights their commitment to promoting more sustainable food production.

Agriculture, particularly the cultivation of commodity crops, is essential for local food security and livelihoods. With 38 registered bioprotection products now on the Portal for Trinidad and Tobago, growers and advisors can easily access trusted information to identify effective and environmentally safe solutions for pest management.

The launch of our 50th country on the CABI BioProtection Portal was featured in a recent Regional Consultation Meeting organized by CABI with its Member Countries in the Americas and Caribbean in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The event brought together Member Country representatives and partners to discuss joint action on agricultural and environmental challenges, a fitting moment to celebrate Trinidad and Tobago’s addition to the Portal.

Behind the scenes: a team effort

This new achievement would never have been made possible without our team’s dedicated work. Each launch requires significant work, from gathering data in collaboration with local authorities to formatting and uploading the product information.

We are also deeply grateful to all our members, whose support is vital to enabling the Portal’s growth. Their contributions help us bring trusted information to more countries and more farmers every year.

This achievement is a celebration of the Portal’s expansion, but also of the teamwork and expertise that made it happen.

Future objectives

Our mission remains the same: empowering farmers and advisors with up-to-date and reliable information on biological pest protection products. We are committed to continuing our growth and making more information on bioprotection available worldwide.
