Lydiah Gatere

I am a Climate Change specialist based at CABI’s regional centre in Kenya. My role involves integrating climate resilience across CABI’s core by empowering smallholder farmers through climate-smart agriculture. This involves the implementation of sustainable techniques and strategic environmental stewardship, prioritizing ecosystem protection and restoration. I analyze climate vulnerabilities to develop and implement adaptation and mitigation strategies, directly supporting countries in achieving their NDC and NAP commitments. My expertise in soil and plant sciences underpins these efforts, ensuring practical and impactful climate action.

With over 15 years of experience in the management of development programs focusing on small-scale agriculture, I have a strong expertise in soil health, climate-resilient agriculture, and biodiversity conservation. My background includes conducting impactful scientific research on climate-resilient practices, as well as water security and quality. I am committed to empowering smallholders to enhance their on-farm productivity and achieve sustainable livelihoods.
